For the benefit of hainan people, free screening activities for esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer and other early cancers of the digestive tract were officially launched by hainan cancer hospital on January 13.
Initiate by Cancer Prevention and Control Center of Hainan province and founded by Hainan Charity Foundation, the program is aimed to offer free early screening of digestive tract cancer, which is meant to improve the level of hainan digestive tract cancer prevention and control, promote our province the digestive tract tumor early screening, early diagnosis and early treatment of the establishment of prevention and control system. It will benefit the entire province,especially the high-risk group including 5000 people with gastrointestinal cancer. The activity will last for one year.
Digestive tract tumors are the number one killer in China. About half of the global digestive tract tumors occur in China. There are about 1.5 million new cases and 1 million deaths of gastric cancer, esophageal cancer and colorectal cancer in China every year, and nearly 85% of the patients are in the middle or final stage when they are diagnosed. The treatment cost is huge and the social burden is heavy.At the same time, Hainan Cancer Hospital was officially approved as a member of "national clinical research center for digestive diseases hainan branch", "training base for gastroenterologists of Chinese medical doctors association" and "national alliance for early cancer prevention and treatment of digestive tract".
