Head-Neck Surgery Department

What We Have

The Department of Head-Neck Surgery is one of the key departments of our hospital with 6，surgeons including 3 associate chief surgeons, 1 attending surgeon and 2 residents in charge of award with 50 beds as well as the out-patient. It is well equipped with audiology & vestibular func-tion test machines, electric fiberoptic endoscopic and nasal endoscopic systems that are imported from the USA.

What We Do

We treat ENT, oral & maxillofacial and head-neck diseases, including benign and malignant tu-mors arising from the thyroid gland, oral cavity, salivary glands, pharynx, larynx, nose and nasalsinuses, or from the skin, vessels or nerves of the head-neck region. We also treat non-neoplastic diseases such as inflammation, infection or congenital anomalies of the head-neck region. Although surgery is our main-stay treatment modality, we also give chemotherapy or target drug therapy for malignancies when necessary.

What is Special with Us

Being specialized in the management of head-neck diseases, we are also distinguished in per-forming endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS), endoscopy-assisted head-neck surgery, minimally invasive radiofrequency ablation of benign thyroid nodules and surgical reconstruction of oral, maxillofacial

and head-neck defects which are mostly seen due to surgical resection of tumors. We have conduct-ed intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) with the help of radiotherapists. Above all, we are also giving efforts on individualized treatment for each patient through a multidisciplinary platform which in-

volves, besides us, radiotherapists, chemotherapists, pathologists, radiologists, ultrasonologists,electrocardiologists and etc.

Academics

We have been approved of several scientific research projects, including one sponsored by the Provincial Natural Science Fund of Hainan, one by Hainan Provincial Health Commission (the former Health and Family Planning Commission) and one by the Cultivation Fund of Science of Hainan Medical College. There has been one SCI paper published in which our department is the first author’s affiliation.
