The department of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine is headed by professor Li Zhigang, who was the postdoctor of MD Anderson Cancer Center in the United States and doctoral supervisor in the General Hospital of Tianjin Medical University. There are seven clinical doctors and one nurse who have the special skills of Chinese Medicine in the department. They formed a good team to ensure the multidisciplinary development of the department and attach equal importance between traditional Chinese and western medicine.
This department combines oncology therapy, traditional Chinese medicine treatment and minimally invasive techniques to treat: lung cancer, breast cancer, head and neck cancer (nasopharynx cancer, tongue cancer, oral cancer, laryngeal cancer, thyroid cancer), digestive system tumors (esophageal cancer , gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, gallbladder carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma), urinary system tumors (kidney cancer, bladder cancer, ureteral cancer, prostate cancer), ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, bone tumors, soft tissue tumors, etc.
Characteristic technologies:
1. Professor Li Zhigang has a study background of more than 10 years in foreign contries and more than 20 years of oncology surgical experience. He is good at using minimally invasive treatment techniques such as thoracoscopy, laparoscopy, bronchoscopy, gastroscopy and colonoscopy, and various tumor ablation techniques such as Argon-helium cryoablation, radiofrequency ablation, microwave ablation, photodynamic ablation) and radioactive particle implantation techniques. Especially, using argon-helium cryoablation to cure early local tumors and to palliate advanced tumors. The technology has the advantages of wide adaptability, strong targeting, definite efficacy, and small adverse reactions, which brings more options for early tumour patients and brings the hope of healing to the patients with advanced tumors.
2. Patients with tumors not only face the local tumor problem but also the problem of dysfunction of various organs in the treatment process. Professor Li Zhigang began to combine traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine with modern technology to treat tumors. Including the implementation of an "all-round" comprehensive treatment mode for the cancer patients and the promotion of comprehensive management of the whole process with MDT of "five different specialties" that is different from the previous consultations between different professional departments. MDT of "five different specialties of doctors" means five different professional doctors (Western doctors, Chinese medicine practitioners, dieticians, pain doctors, and psychologists) jointly diagnose and treate patients, reflecting the comprehensive, scientific and precise treatment of cancer, and solves clinical problems conveniently and effectively for the patients.
